Improvisational Performance Skills

Improvisation is an integral part of any dancer’s toolbox. After a short introductory discussion, participants will engage in a exercises that will focus on everything from versatility of movement to engaging the audience to musicality and emotion. The workshop will culminate in the creation of a group piece, which participants will have tho opportunity to perform at the Charity Showcase event that evening. (Performing with the group is recommended, but not required.) This workshop is designed for belly dancers, but most of the material can be applied to any form of dance and many of the skills that will be explored are also applicable to the creation and/or execution of choreography. Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for dancing and bring a water bottle. Dancers who intend to perform in the Showcase should have basic black dance wear for the performance. All levels welcome.
Price for both workshops: $45 in advance / $55 at the door.
The Showcase performance benefitting The Parkinson’s Institute will be held at 7pm.
